The cep | Centre for European Policy Network is the European policy think tank funded by the non-profit Foundation for “Ordnungspolitik”. Our work is underpinned by the principles of a free market economy.

Mission

At a time when Europe is facing historic challenges and fundamental decisions, cep provides analysis of European policy in an independent, academic and fact-based manner. With geopolitical rivalries fragmenting the global economy, technological developments disrupting markets, and societal changes challenging democracy, we assess EU legislation, develop strategies and provide new impetus.

Financial Markets & Information Technologies

The department analyses EU proposals for a stable, sustainable and digital financial economy. At its core, it deals with the digitalisation of the financial sector, sustainable finance, the strengthening of capital markets, the regulation of telecommunications markets, cyber security and a European data economy.

Energy, Environment, Climate and Transport

The department analyses the EU proposals for a secure, affordable and sustainable energy supply with the aim of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. It focuses on decarbonisation, renewable energy, energy efficiency, the integrated energy and transport market, environmental protection and the circular economy.

Single Market, Competition, Economic, Fiscal Policy

The department analyses EU proposals to improve and defend the internal market and to coordinate the economic and fiscal policies of the member states. It focuses on balanced economic growth, ecological and social progress and the digital transformation.

Technological Innovation, Infrastructure & Industrial Development

The department analyses the economic and regulatory requirements for the transformation of European industry towards climate neutrality. The focus is on successful transformation as a holistic interaction of private innovation, public infrastructure and smart market-orientated incentive policies.

Digitalisation & New Technologies

The department analyses EU proposals on digital policy issues such as AI. The focus is on the question of how fair competition and human dignity can be protected in the digital age. A digital regulatory framework is needed that defends European values, strategic sovereignty and freedom of choice.

cep Italia

The Centro Politiche Europee acts as a cep partner institute in the Italian capital Rome. The foundation seeks contact with opinion-leading public and private actors. It publishes its own research with a focus on Italy as well as on the entire cep area of influence. It organises meetings and participates in events throughout Europe in order to build up a network of stakeholders through its own expertise.

cep France

The Centre de Politique Européenne acts as a cep partner institute in the French capital Paris. The foundation seeks contact with opinion-leading public and private actors. It publishes its own research with a focus on France as well as on the entire cep area of influence. It organises meetings and takes part in events throughout Europe in order to build up a network of stakeholders through its own expertise.

cep Nordic Countries

cep Nordic Countries is the Nordic hub of the Centres for European Policy Network, based in Helsinki. From here, we connect cutting‑edge policy ideas from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and the Baltic States with debates in Berlin, Brussels and beyond. The office focuses on digitalisation, AI and economic security, translating Nordic best practices – for example in digital government and civil resilience – into concrete policy options across Europe. At the same time, it promotes the tradition of the social market economy and ordoliberalism in Scandinavia and the Baltic states, seeking to renew these concepts for the challenges of the 21st century. Through briefings, events and joint research projects, cep Nordic Countries builds a bridge between public and private actors in the region and the wider European policy conversation.

Das cep | Centrum für Europäische Politik ist der europapolitische Think Tank der Stiftung Ordnungspolitik. Er fokussiert sich auf die Analyse der EU-Gesetzgebung und die Förderung der europäischen Integration.
