Farm To Fork (cepPolicyBrief)


By means of its “Farm To Fork" strategy, the EU Commission wants to create a “food environment” that makes it easier for consumers to choose healthy and sustainable diets. A cepPolicyBrief examines the consumer policy objectives and measures of the strategy.




The EU Commission is pursuing ambitious goals with the strategy and it contains promising approaches: For example, mandatory harmonized front-of-pack nutrition labelling will enhance transparency for the consumer. However, the terms and conditions of any EU-wide label should be established at EU level. Since most food waste is produced by households, the EU Commission should put household food waste reduction at the heart of its policy.
