Vehicle Safety (Regulation)
cepPolicyBrief
In cep’s view, obligatory assistance systems will increase traffic safety. The requirement for turning-assistance for lorries and buses should therefore be brought in earlier than 2024 because it will also save lives. However, it should also be possible to switch assistance systems off when driving so that the driver can control his vehicle in all circumstances. In addition, cep criticises the fact that empowering the Commission to adopt delegated acts on “driverless vehicles” involves essential issues to be regulated by the EU legislator (EU Parliament and Council) itself and is therefore in breach of EU law.
