The EU has reformed the rules guaranteeing the safety of road infrastructure. cep provides the following assessment of the amendments that have been passed to the Road Safety Management Directive.

In cep's view, the mandatory "proactive" "network-wide road assessment" is a sensible addition to the existing "reactive" safety management. The obligation to "follow-up" on the "network-wide road assessment" and on targeted road-safety inspections is crucial for improving transport safety.
