The European Commission wants to create a more competitive and innovative European financial sector with initiatives on new financial technologies. Therefore it has submitted a FinTech action plan.

In cep's view, greater convergence between the national licensing requirements will facilitate the cross-border activities of the increasingly important FinTech platforms. However, the Commission should not influence the market-driven development of standards for programming interfaces, as this could affect and distort competition.
