Germany's Bundestag clears way for talks with Greece

Some 60 lawmakers of Merkel's CDU/CSU, however, voted against the move

Germany’s lower house of parliament, the Bundestag, on Friday voted with an overwhelming majority in favour of starting negotiations with Greece over a third bailout program. 439 lawmakers voted in favour, and 119 opposed the move, with 40 abstentions. Amongst the lawmakers voting against the start of talks were 60 members of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s CDU/CSU parliamentary group. See also our cepAdhoc on the matter.
