Spread of the Corona virus: Status and progression

How is the Corona virus spreading, what are the death rates in the major countries of the world. Data updated daily

The scale of the economic impact of the Corona crisis will largely depend on how long the global restrictions remain in place. Crucial to this is how quickly the spread of the virus can be contained and the fatality rate reduced. cep has therefore provided the following data on the subject which will be updated on a daily basis.

Graph 1: Total number of confirmed Corona cases per million inhabitants over time

Graph 2: New confirmed cases per million inhabitants over time

Graph 3: New confirmed cases in a rolling three-day average over time

Graph 4: Growth path for the total number of confirmed Corona cases

Graph 5: Total confirmed deaths from Corona per million inhabitants over time

Graph 6: New confirmed deaths from Corona per million inhabitants over time

Graph 7: Fatality rate of confirmed Corona cases over time

The data is provided for the following ten countries:

China, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Canada, Spain, South Korea and the USA.

(The data was obtained from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.)

Graph 1: Total number of confirmed Corona cases per million inhabitants over time

The graph shows how the confirmed level of infection is developing.

Graph 2: New confirmed cases per million inhabitants over time

The graph shows how the level of infection is developing within a country.

Graph 3: New confirmed cases in a rolling three-day average over time

The graph shows how the level of infection is developing within a country correcting for delays in the transmission of information.

Graph 4: Growth path for the total number of confirmed Corona cases

The graph shows the number of days within which the number of cases doubles in the respective country. The starting point for each country is the date on which the country reached 100 confirmed cases.

Mortality rate of the Corona virus: Status and progression

Graph 5: Total confirmed deaths from Corona per million inhabitants over time

The graph shows the relative number of deaths of time.

Graph 6: New confirmed deaths from Corona per million inhabitants over time

The graph shows how the development of the number of deaths changes from day to day.

Graph 7: Fatality rate of confirmed Corona cases over time

The graph shows the development of the fatality rate of those infected with the Corona virus.

General reservations:

Differences in the approach and capacity for testing make an international comparison difficult. There is likely to be a high number of unreported cases so the statistics significantly underestimate how far the virus has spread in the respective populations. Different approaches used in the statistical recording of Corona deaths make international comparison difficult. Delays in the transmission of case numbers make it difficult to give an up-to-date comparison of the figures.
