The influence of European Union decision-making on daily life of people as well as of enterprises is enormous: 84 % of all legislation valid for the Federal Republic of Germany is nowadays passed in Brussels, only 16 % originates from Berlin. Nevertheless, many actors affected by EU regulations are often not aware of them until they are passed.
Then, obviously, it is too late to exert any influence on the decision-making process.
It therefore is our goal to provide you with background information on ongoing as well as future EU regulations relevant to Germany. We intend to spur public discussion and to enable those affected to exert influence well in advance of the decision making process.
Our policy briefs (mostly in German) on upcoming EU regulations inform you ahead of time. They aim to be easily comprehensible and will summarise the essential content of regulatory projects as well as their consequences for both Germany’s economy and its citizens.
Under our headings “The European Union” and “Germany within the EU” you can find additional background information on the EU and Germany’s position in the EU in German.
Our EU Glossary contains selected terms and topics of European Politics - in German as well.
