"We won't keep Greece in the eurozone at any price"
EU Economic Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici has issued a severe warning to Greece’s new government. "We won't keep Greece in the eurozone at any price, but under strict conditions which are acceptable for both sides,” the Frenchman said in an interview with German daily Die Welt. The Commissioner, however, also warned of the fallout from an exit of Greece from the currency union. “An exit would inflict great political damage to the eurozone. Everyone would ask, Which member state is next?" he said. If the eurozone allows one member state to leave, the whole currency union will see its integrity being put into doubt, the Commissioner argued. See also our latest cepBlog on the matter.
