Freight Corridors

The creation of freight corridors aims to establish a European rail network and to increase the competitiveness of rail transport. As a consequence, freight transport will be given priority over passenger transport.

The introduction of rigid priority rules in favour of certain types of freight transport will lead to considerable disruptions to the overall rail system. Avoidance reactions by passengers are to be expected. Therefore, the  Regulation should not be approved.
