Life without energy would be impossible in the EU. The focal point of European energy policy activities is to ensure adequate supply of energy and the establishment of an single energy market. Green Papers on energy efficiency and a European energy policy have already been presented according to which the EU plans to reduce its yearly use of primary energy by 20% and to cover 20% of its total energy use through renewable resources until 2020. To this end, the EU intends to increase efforts to promote the field of electricity, heating-cooling technology and green fuel.
