Along with the Single Market, the European Union has also addressed the issue of consumer protection and, to this end, has already adopted numerous acts of legislation. At the forefront of the EU’s activities is the strengthening of consumer protection and its harmonisation throughout the EU.
Differences between Member States’ legislation on health protection—which is also an aspect of consumer protection—could pose barriers to cross-border trade. The EU is seeking to dismantle these barriers through Union-wide harmonisation measures.
