Luxembourg has taken over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union
On 1 July 2015, Luxembourg has taken over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union until the end of the year. Luxembourg is following Latvia, which has been holding the Council Presidency for the first time during the 1st half of 2015. With Italy (2nd half of 2014) and Latvia, Luxembourg forms a Trio Presidency, which pursues a joint work program. Furthermore, Luxembourg strongly focuses on the conclusions of the European Council of 27 June 2015. The next Council Trio Presidency will be formed by the Netherlands, Slovakia and Malta.
