IMF head Lagarde: "Yes, I've got my money back"

cep economist Matthias Kullas says Greece must swiftly come to an agreement with the EU and the IMF over its reform plan if it wants to be able to pay its bills also in the future

Lagarde confirmed the Greek loan repayment

Greece on Thursday made a 459 million euro loan repayment to the International Monetary Fund. “Yes, I’ve got my money back,” IMF managing director Christine Lagarde confirmed the payment. Meanwhile, news agency AFP is quoting a Greek finance ministry official as saying that the government will pay all its bills in April, including pensions and wages. However, it was unclear whether there would be enough funds for May, the source said. “The Greek government must swiftly come to an agreement with the EU and the IMF over its new list of reforms if it wants to be able to pay its bills also in the future,” says cep economist Matthias Kullas. “Before Greece will receive any further financial assistance, these reforms also have to be passed by the Greek parliament first,” he noted.
